first day

in adalyn, school

I never worried that Addy would dislike preschool.  For those of you that know her I am sure you understand.  She L-O-V-E-S everybody, everything and all things involving the word “school.”  Sadly, my biggest fear was she was going to pee her pants.  I’m not kidding.  I am relieved to say she did not pee her pants.  Acutally she wore a dress, becuase it tends to hide it more.  She picked out her own dress and brushed her teeth, applied her hello kitty necklace and drove herself to school.  I would first like to say, how do people get out of the house on time???  I have always worked really long days that begin at god awful hours and I have never had to get my kids up and out the door with me, like many working moms.  I mean, preschool started at 9am and I was barely there on time. I wanted to take lots of pictures and I did manage some.  Instead I felt more like a drill sargeant barking orders, “Addy eat your oatmeal really fast!” (She replies, “Um, I’m just gonna eat it slow”)  ”Owen get over here!” (to which he runs away)  ”Everybody in the car NOW!”   I have a lot of respect for my working mom friends that tote their kids off to daycare in the wee hours of the morning after making everyone breakfast, getting them dressed and hair brushed, bags packed and still manage to be Fabulous parents.  How do you come home and make dinner at night?  I can barely see straight after work.  They are exalted in my mind compared to us mere mortals.

It was so much fun to hang out with Owen.  We went downtown, perused the farmers market, had a croissant at Rockwood Bakery and then played at the park with friends.  It is so easy to just take one child everywhere.  I am glad to have a little extra time alone with him.

She does this cheesy smile A LOT.  I am in denial about her age.  She’s still 2 right?

Thank God daycare does breakfast, otherwise we’d never get out of the house on time either. Most mornings here consist of the same orders but with two or three spankings and a major noodle-weight resistance fits.

Better post something everyday while Nana is away…she seriously misses those two cuties already.
Addy makes the most adorable little preschooler ever. Love you!
