1. Greenbluff. I realize many other cities have farms, etc. BUT, Greenbluff is so close and accessible that it feels easier. We went strawberry picking yesterday, all 26 pounds came home with us. The parents even had it re-weighed out of disbelief. It was heaven. Hot heaven. I picked till I nearly passed out. Definitely worth it. I came home and processed all our bounty, making freezer packs of whole berries plain, whole berries in syrup, and sliced berries galore. I have a bunch left that I will turn into some freezer jam since I don’t have any canning equipment, yet! I didn’t realize how much fun I had with the whole process. I love picking fresh fruit, and the idea of saving for the future just makes me giggle. I couldn’t stop smiling. I am such a nerd.
2. Riverfront park. I mean the park is alright and all. Definitely a great place to take your kids on a hot day. Addy ran in the water feature thing and then went on a carousel ride. Also, where else can you feed feral ducks and birds who nearly peck your eyes out? Sharing bread with the little boy next to us? No problem.
3. Baby bar. Pretty cool little bar complete with a burritos and chips and salsa. Beer is cheap and the music is bad in a good way.
4. Dicks. Seriously, Seattle Dicks sucks bad compared to Spokane Dicks. When I am in Seattle I HAVE to be intoxicated in order to eat at Dicks. In Spokane, no drunkenness needed. You just need to be prepared for the less than-hip-crowd that you will be standing in. There is really nothing like a greasy hamburger. We introduced our kids to Dicks too. We are such good parents, I know.
Man, they could write me up in the Inlander or the Crunk Roost thingy. All in all, Spokane is treating us well. We are happy, really happy. I can see us heading in a direction that I like, and I feel like things are finally falling into place. Don’t be jealous people. We’ve been married 7 years and have 2 kids and no money. Just saying, it’s ABOUT FREAKIN TIME.

You sound happy and I love it! I envy your strawberry picking. I would totally dig that and the whole freezing canning process. Ben would totally dig it to. All those places make me jealous since the inferno we call home has nothing cool like that at all. I will live vicariously through you.
Seriously…aren’t the strawberries AMAZING?!?!? I could live in a strawberry patch and be completely content. I am making jam as I write this…you can come over and borrow my stuff.
So glad you are enjoying Spokane…also, lets hang out sans kids sometime soon, i think we both deserve it! So so so glad you guys are here.
Great post. So glad you are happy. Can you bring me something made of strawberries when I see you next? That is, when I see you soooo soon!

x2 for #3. -Baby Bar dance parties fueled by $1 PBRs with James Pants throwing down the beats. And somehow knowing every person there. Hooray Spokane!
JAMES PANTS is a friend of CORY’s. He gave me his music but I couldn’t listen to it on my I-tunes because I wasn’t authorized. However, Cory spoke very highly of the musical skills of Pants.
