So Andy and I had this conversation where I was trying to compliment him by telling him that most other dads that I hear about suck balls (just for you) in the dad department. Apparently I have used the phrase “sucks balls” a few times lately, although I cannot fathom why I would use it. It seems I have the mind of a 12 year old boy, or I was repressed as a child. ”Suck” was a particularly bad word in the Murrow household, sometimes I say it around my mom just to see how she’ll react. Anyway, I was trying to tell andy how much I appreciate ALL that he does. To which he replied, well it really isn’t that hard, so I don’t think I deserve a compliment. Shit man, just say thank you. Andy is truly a wonderful dad. Not the tidiest or the most frequent of cookers, but he really tries. He can play better than anyone I know and is far more patient than I, our kids adore him.
When I met Andy 1o years ago, he was a totally different person. Seriously. He weighed like 130#, had bleach blond hair and barely talked. We had one big fight at one point where I said, “Screw you!” I find that hilarious now. At some point we came up with a brilliant idea to just get married, why wait, we said. So four days past my twenty-first birthday we got hitched on on horridly hot Monday afternoon. I don’t know how we thought we could get married, but amazingly it has worked out. We have grown up together. He an I both agree that we didn’t even know who we were as individuals let alone as a married couple. Hence a few rough years.
Now after nearly 1o years and 10 changes to your career path, my love and respect for you has continued to grow. I admire who you are and what you are trying to become.
Happy 28th Birthday.
