thrifting and mildly embarrassing photos

in things we like

We have never had much of anything valuable.  It really hasn’t changed with the new economy.  Inevitably we will continue to hound thrift stores for the next few years. In high school I used to go Savers in north Phoenix on Bell Road and Thunderbird. It was great, dirty and cheap. I miss that place.  Since then, I have gone sporadically with Andy. He is a thrift store fiend–almost to a fault. I can’t even tell you how many old cameras we have owned over the years.  For whatever reason I never got into thrifting until lately.  I used to say that I would rather spend more money on fewer nice things. I still do believe that on some levels. Certain things are worth spending more money, like shoes, or mattresses or undergarments (gross!). Definitely things to NOT get at a thrift store. But since we have no money that = no nice things.

We go to the store, kids in tow, we pick out a ton of stuff and I try it on.  Actually Andy picks it out and sends Addy running back to the dressing room to hand it to me. Here’s my favorite outfit, all of it from the thrift store.  This skirt was a run of the mill gap skirt that andy hemmed for me.  My other favorites are my yellow teakettle and a calphalon wok that I seem to cook everything in.  If you’ve seen our other pots and pans, well then you know why.  To saving money that we don’t have!
