one thousand four hundred and sixty-two

The number of days you have been in our life.  Four years ago at 7:57am at a whopping 5pounds 12ounces.  You entered the world spry and small, but feisty –not much has changed.  By my own admission, I was not ready for you, but that is not your fault.  Sometime life teaches us as it goes.  It does not depreciate how much we adore you.  I have never been exceptionally close to my mother, regrettably so, but I desperately want to be close to you always.  I will work for that always.  You are so much like you dad, besides looking like him.  You are so free spirited and fun.  Every morning at 7am you come upstairs with all your stuffed animals (big beary, beary, ducky, jacks, big kitty, moosie and someone else), take off your cloth diaper and then go and get a banana.  All the while we are laying in bed wishing the day didn’t have to start.

Today we had a great time (well last week now since I am so stinkin busy!) .  We started off at Top Pot for some yummy doughnuts. As usual you ate the top only, consuming every ounce of sugar frosting on everyone’s doughnut.  Afterward, we headed to the Little Artist studio for some free painting.  My favorite part - you fell off your chair and hit your head. I think you got embarrassed so you ran out of the room to cry (so cute),  rare moments of weakness for such a tough little girl.

I am always impressed by your:  appetite for vegetables, refusal to go to the bathroom, smile, inability jump and run, love for Dora and the park. Every day you ask to go to the park.  We can’t wait to see you evolve, to watch you learn to read, all the sweet things of life that are irreplaceable.  Some day you will learn about the difficult things of life, it may change you, but for now I am reveling in the simplicity of who you are.  Thank you for loving Owen.  Lately you have been insisting on hugs and kisses before I leave or when I come home.  You told me the other day “I’m so glad you’re here.”  Well Addy, let me tell you, you have no idea how glad I am that you are here.  Happy birthday.

How lucky for Addy to have parents who love her so much… and whom give her donuts with sprinkles. I am not sure which is better :)

You words made me cry Kat! She is a lucky and beautiful little girl and I look forward to watching her grow. Not too fast though! Happy Birthday Addy.
