in what?

The other night we had friends over.  Just after our first guests arrived our neighbor, Kathy, came over and knocked on our door.  Let me preface by saying we have spent little time with Kathy, other than her coming to Thanksgiving dinner.  She is a sweet lady who lives alone in her house next door with her cats and fibromyalgia.  She has difficulty walking around so we don’t see her outside often.  Sooo, she knocks on our door and says she needs a favor.  Immediately I am thinking she is ill, she needs medical treatment or she needs help getting something high up.  But no.  She asks us to be witnesses to a wedding that she is officiating, in her house.  What could we say??  Sure!  We head on over to her house that was strangely reminiscent of my grandparents with things piled up and the floorboards creaking.  Once we get there we see a dude who looks like this– minus the cowboy.  They were dressed in jeans and t-shirts.  I was more dressed up in my dress and tights.  Kathy conducted a full ceremony that was sweetly awkward and stilted.  We signed the contract.  I held her bouquet.

The whole time I was glancing over at Andy, honestly trying not to laugh at how odd this was.  I was trying to take it seriously, afterall it was her moment.  I must admit, though, my first thought:  I can’t wait to blog about this.
