Just four guys. No orchestra, no Amiina, no crazy ass instruments (well, maybe a couple). They played much of their new album and like the album, sounded about as pop as a post-rock, ambient band from Iceland can. But they did what they do best, 10 minute songs building up to explosions (literally, twice), long silent pauses- quiet enough to hear the Benaroya ventilation fans humming, and visuals. Excellent visuals. Black and white videos of children singing. Eerie doll faces projected on giant white globe lanterns. We sat in the 5th row, but there didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the place. If you haven’t heard these guys, you need to check them out. I can’t remember going to a better show.
Katherine’s post show review- “I liked the song where the drummer played really good.”

Sigor Ros, confetti and drummers from opening band “Parachutes”
P.S. If you are wondering why Katherine’s phone is disconnected, Benaroya Hall ate it. My bad, Kat. My bad.

Wow. you make me sound so intelligent. thanks hon. I don’t think you mentioned the fight you got into with the guy in the row ahead of us…hmmm. how convenient.
saw them last week and totally share your sentiments. i still have confetti and dried up beer stuck to my sandals. the best show i had seen for a long time until i saw iron and wine with the swell season.
