David Bazan alone at the mic

Just got my DVD in the mail of one of my all time fav’s, Mr. David Bazan.  The DVD isn’t anything amazing but I really enjoyed the interviews.

Talking about headphone’s song slow car crash as a love song (lyrics below)… “If I’m in a situation that there is peril, I’m always looking for my phone and thinking, how quickly if I know that I’m going to die… how quickly can I dial Anne so that she knows the last thoughts that I have are just of her and Eleanor, because I want her to know that in that ultimate moment that she is it, she is everything.”

Anyone else thought about this? because man I think about it all the time. Maybe it’s too much 9.11 video of planes crashing into buildings running through my head, but I have these thoughts all the time. Before you die, who is that last phone call going to?

Speed dial #2.

airbags inflated, seat belts engaged
a semi was jack knifed because of the rain
a hundred yards up blocking 3 lanes
we knew it was over and we both looked away
right at each other with spare time to say

babe, i love you and babe, i love you, too.”
