Since the birth of Owen Adalyn has watched significantly more t.v. than before. Our daily routine includes Addy asking for Dora about 30 times a day “watchie Dora?” she says over and over. My usual response is to sigh and suggest another show such as Peep (very cute) or Sesame Street (classic). Sometime it works but mostly it doesn’t. (I’m sorry Sesame street she just doesn’t like you anymore!)
Inevitably I watch Dora daily. I hate Dora. I want to punch her in the face. With her oversized head and sentences that end as a question, and the constant and repeating format that makes you want to go crazy. And the songs…don’t even get me started.
So, the other day Addy and I are “play tounting” as she likes to call it. Which means we are counting stuff. This time it happened to be tiny little screws (real safe). Anyway, she starts “uno…dos…tres…quattro!” Apparently my daughter can count in Spanish. I guess I can’t hate Dora as much now.
Every time Addy gets in the car seat she buckles herself in and says, “seat belts, so we can be safe.” Just like Dora…

Yeah! I’m pumped that you’re entering the world of blogs. It’s a great way to keep up w/ people…although I agree w/ Andy that it can’t take the place of real human contact:) -We’re excited to hopefully see you guys in person soon! Owen looks adorable & we can’t wait to meet him (plus see little Addy); it’s been forever!
Ironic. Hudson was asking me to turn Dora on just as I was clicking on the link to your blog. Everything you said is both funny and true. Hudson talks about Dora ALL the time, which is super awesome since he is a boy. I took him to buy a new toothbrush this week, and told him he could choose any one that we wanted. He said no to Diego, Pooh, CARS, etc…but YES!! to Dora. We negotiated and and walked out with Diego. I’m happy that you started a blog! Great picture’s on Flickr too!!
totally with you katherine… winston has watched so much TV. he is into a show called Kailan - kind of a chinese Dora. also, pretty annoying. anyway, yesterday i think he watched it 6 times. Oh my gosh. ! but, so glad for those 20 minute intervals of peace
